Home is where the heart is....

What better way to spend a rainy afternoon than eating yummy food and crafting up a storm? We had lots of fun making these homes from balsa wood. And I'm proud to say that no huffing and puffing will blow this house down. If you would like to have a go at this simple and funky sculpture, grab a friend and a few crafting ingredients and have go!

CRAFTING INGREDIENTS

-balsa wood (or thin light twigs)

-craft glue and PVA glue#

-spray paint

EXTRA TOPPINGS

-bright twine, paint pens and scissors

STEPS

1. Make a square from four pieces of balsa wood. Glue with Craft and PVA glue#

2. Make two of these.

3. With another piece of the balsa, glue the two squares of balsa to begin the cube shape. 

4. Continue another three times to make a cube.

5. Allow to dry a few minutes before making the roof.

6. Apply glue to two corners of the cube and add two pieces of balsa to make the triangle roof shape (see pic of roof detail below).

7. Hold until craft glue sets.

8. Make the other triangle roof and add the last piece on the top to bridge the two triangles together to finish the roof.

9. Let it dry

10. Spray with paint.

11. Once dry, I wrapped the fluro twine around sections and added patterns with paint pens. 

#Craft glue is tacky (in the sticky sense, not in the daggy sense) and PVA glue is a stronger long term glue. Together they can glue anything!

I’m not sure if you guys get this feeling. It’s like a bug. No not a bug. More like a virus where your body feels overwhelmed and nothing feels comfortable. That’s it ladies and gents. I've got the creative virus. And I’m not afraid to share it.

My creative virus will be here to share in a crafty arvo at my place on the last Sunday afternoon of March from 3pm and you mustn't go home until you feel invigorated and way cool. So bring along whatever you are knitting, molding, looming or rendering and we share our ideas, a beverage and some yum yum treats. Let’s do it.
